REVITALIZATION OF THE FURNACE FOR ANNEALING ALUMINUM STRIPS TO REDUCE GHG EMISSIONS

The innovation involves reducing natural gas consumption by replacing the outdated burner in the calciner furnaces with a new one, and also to introduce new management and supervision systems to monitor all calcination processes inside the furnace. A drop in the natural gas consumption necessary to operate the furnace and CO2 emissions from the furnace of approximately 35% each are expected, as well as a 5% reduction of electricity consumption inside the furnace. The solution also provides for the development of a study concerning the opportunities for product decarbonisation with recommendations that can be beneficial to other similar companies.
