The solution develops an innovative, functional, so-called ‘cassette’ green roof, that will consist of a combination of plants that are more resistant to climate change and that survive with minimum maintenance. The plants will be selected in accordance with recommendations from the research done by the Belgrade-based “Siniša Stanković” Institute for Biological Research. Green roofs absorb considerable amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide, while simultaneously releasing oxygen, and considerably enhance energy efficiency of buildings they are installed on, reducing the amount of energy used for their heating and cooling. This is why they can be used in the long term for decarbonisation and environmental pollution reduction in cities.
