As part of the “Evergreen” project, the City of Kraljevo has set up a system for the early detection of forest fires as a source of greenhouse gas emissions. Using the geographic information system (GIS), the forests were mapped in order to establish an early warning system for forest fires, which enables the prevention of future damage and disaster risk reduction. The new method of data collection by a specialised GIS vehicle enables preventive warnings on all parameters necessary for a timely response, as well as notifications on the characteristics of the site itself.
