PUC “Gradska čistoća” from Novi Pazar uses a multifunctional machine for the maintenance of public green areas to process wood and organic waste collected on agricultural farms and makes wood chips, which is used for operating of the city’s biomass heating plant. In this way, the use of fossil fuels for heating, and thus the air pollution in Novi Pazar, is reduced. The solution foresees the training of members of vulnerable groups to work with the new machine for making wood chips, which will make them more employable in new, green workplaces.

Energy Transition for Healthier Environment and Better Competitiveness of Novi Pazar Companies

Novi Pazar, 4 March 2024 – Due to the support by the Government of Japan and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) four companies from Novi Pazar and Sjenica have started to use renewable sources of energy and reuse waste in getting new raw materials and products. Additionally, these companies have supported a couple of households at risk, in order to decrease energy poverty in the area, while by retraining workers for new green professional positions, they also contributed to their better employability.

Innovations contribute to reduction of energy poverty and just green transition

Belgrade, November 14, 2023 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Ministry of Mining and Energy have chosen 12 of the most mature business solutions for just green transformation of the economy and reduction of energy poverty, which will be implemented thanks to the financial support of the Government of Japan in the amount of 450,000 dollars.

The Best Innovations in Accelerating Circular Economy Awarded $783,000

Belgrade, 17 March 2022 – On the occasion of the Global Recycling Day celebrated on 18 March, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support by the Global Environment Fund (GEF), have rewarded the authors of the best innovations in further development of circular economy in Serbia. The awards have been received by private and public enterprises and civil society organisations. Their innovations would contribute to decreasing the emission of the greenhouse gases and production of waste, as well as to preservation of natural resources.
