The “Connect Clean Roma Group” cooperative aims to reduce non-hazardous waste (plastic, rubber, copper, brass and aluminium) and reuse it to produce high-purity (99.8%) granulate, which is in high demand. In the implementation of this idea, members of the Association for the Prosperity of Roma from Novi Bečej are hired as collectors of secondary raw materials – old cables and electronic and electrical waste. In addition to hiring members of vulenrable population, the cooperative networked with local businesses and organised informal training for young people in waste management, as well as cleaning up local landfill sites and building an environmentally friendly playground.
