The goal of this project is to optimise the parameters for the production of biodegradable and compostable bags, for which the Serbian market is being prepared as part of the EU Directive on the reduction of plastic waste adopted by Serbia in 2019. By using materials based on polylactide and starch, which are biodegradable biopolymers, and “green“ plasticizers based on glycerole and citrate esters instead of the well-known toxic phthalates, the entire process is placed in an environmentally friendly framework. This project provides bags that can compete with polyethylene bags and decompose in nature after disposal through the activity of microorganisms and hydrolytic processes.
