MIXED FORESTS FOR GREATER RESILIENCE TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment Novi Sad

At the experimental plot of the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment near Kać the biodiversity on the area of  13 hectares will be enhanced through the planting of seedlings of black and white poplar, willow, wild cherry, pear, and plum. Mixed forests increase resilience to climate change, enhance the biological diversity of the area, and create resilient and stable ecosystems capable of withstanding negative climate impacts such as storms, prolonged droughts, and fires without significant damage.
