USE OF ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS FROM FOOD INDUSTRY FOR ENERGY GENERATION

With its innovative solution, “Carnex” utilises the animal origin meat production byproducts (bones, tissue and blood) as raw materials in a biogas facility owned by MK Group. There are approximately 250 tonnes of monthly generated byproducts in total. This waste is used in the biogas facility to generate energy, and the hot water from the biogas facility is in turn be used in the meat industry, which cuts spending on electricity by approximately 1,200,000 kWh on an annual basis. After using the hot water generated by the biogas facility, the water is returned into the biogas facility for reuse.
