The company “Mivaka” produces an innovative mat for poultry rearing made from natural materials which can also be used as organic fertiliser. When the chickens are fully grown, the mat is collected and used to produce compost according to the circular economy principles. The final product is an organic fertiliser that can be safely used in agriculture. This idea is reinforced by the installation of a conveyor belt in the plant to produce compost from these mats. This facilitates the handling of the recycled mats and improves worker safety as it reduces dust emissions. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 11% due to the reduced use of fossil fuels.

From chicken bedding to organic fertiliser
Belgrade, June 26th – One of the most important principles of the circular economy is that the waste generated during the manufacture of a product is used as a raw material for another process or product. A chicken farm in Vojvodina applies this principle with great success by combining wood processing, the poultry sector and the production of organic fertiliser.
