Through the procurement of an electrospinning device and the application of optimized bacterial fermentation, plastic waste generated from 3D printing (as well as other types of plastic waste) will be combined, via electrospinning, with bioactive compounds derived from food waste, resulting in an innovative and cost-effective biopolymer: a prototype of a novel bioactive material—electrospun, biologically active membranes based on high-value bacterial nanocellulose.
This material has potential applications in biomedicine and as a functional packaging material, and will be tested by Esensa.
