SAFE PASSAGE FOR POND TURTLES

This solution strives to protect the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis), the only native species of aquatic turtle in Serbia, by tackling threats like habitat fragmentation and fatalities due to motor vehicle collisions in the “Kraljevac” Reserve. The solution revitalizes turtle movement corridors using nature-based solutions, such as creating animal crossings, which ensure turtles can move safely and nest around the Deliblato Lake. It also fosters local community participation through workshops and events.
