REDUCING CO2 EMISSIONS BY CRUSHING CERAMIC WASTE

Wienerberger LTD

The Wienerberger branch in Kanjiža produces roof tiles. The company is categorised as an IPPC plant with a significant impact on the environment and is part of the EU Emissions Trading System, which is why it is striving to reduce its CO2 emissions. Their solution is to reuse the ceramic waste from production by introducing a ceramic waste crushing line. Part of this ceramic is returned to production, reducing the consumption of raw materials and energy, and therefore CO₂ emissions as well as the emissions of other waste gases (HCl, HF, and SOx) generated during the thermal processing of raw clay. The solution can be extended to other factories within the Wienerberger Group and serve as an example of good industrial practise in the region.
