Green initiative in ceramic industry towards optimization of production processes and decarbonization

Zorka-Keramika doo Beograd

The company Zorka-Keramika and its project partner, Zorka-Opeka, are engaged in the production of ceramic tiles, blocks, and bricks that enable energy-efficient construction. Both companies are IPPC and ETS operators that must invest in measures to comply with BAT standards and reduce emissions. Through this project, they have improved energy efficiency and production process automation, significantly reducing fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Project activities include a unique technological solution for utilizing waste heat in the ceramics industry at the Zorka-Keramika facility, alongside a software solution for automating production processes at the Zorka-Opeka facility to enable more precise monitoring of energy and electricity consumption.

The contribution to GHG emission reduction and financial sustainability is analyzed in the industry’s Decarbonization Study, which also proposes potential green investments and technologies.
