In the protected area of the Landscape of Exceptional Features Vršac Mountains, where land and settlements are exposed to strong winds and soil erosion, the Eco Belt – Natural Protection for the Future project establishes protective forest belts across 9.6 hectares of public land. By planting multi‑row belts of native, climate‑resilient tree species, the project creates an ecological corridor that connects two important natural habitats. The green belt reduces the impact of strong winds (košava), protects soil from erosion, improves local microclimate conditions, and supports biodiversity conservation. The project is implemented with the active involvement of the local community through educational activities and volunteer tree‑planting actions, building long‑term green infrastructure and shared responsibility for nature protection.
